“My name is Hassan Marong I’m 16 and this summer I will be participating in the Breaking Walls summer initiative. There are so many things that I am looking forward to do this summer. Meeting people from different places and being able to write and perform with them will be very exciting! I am really looking forward to showing people Detroit. There are many stereotypes about Detroit and I want to show people that they are not true. I want to show people how beautiful my home is and how proud I am to look be here.

“Working with Matrix Theater Company I have met so many amazing people who have unique stories. We all come from different places and we show that in our writing. When I write I not only use my experiences in life but I also use other peoples’ experiences to help my writing. Communicating with different people allows me to see the world from someone else’s point of view. Attending Breaking Walls will allow me to meet people from different parts of the world and understand how they feel about the world. This will  have such a powerful effect on my writing.”
