breaking walls

Today, I had the pleasure of attending the Breaking Walls Stakeholder Meeting. It was so nice meeting new people who believe in the vision of Breaking Walls as well as the artist that I haven’t seen in a while. It was very nice to connect with everyone who is apart of this loving and giving community.

In the meeting, we started off by hearing works from artists from Brooklyn, Tangier, Barcelona. The artist really impacted the people at the meeting and really showcased what Breaking Walls stands for. After the wonderful performances, we spoke to two other artists about the way Breaking Walls has impacted them from Cape Town to Tangier. We got a chance to ask thought-provoking questions and get a grasp of how the program has impacted their daily lives. Madja, an artist from Tangier, expressed how Breaking Walls helped her realize her voice mattered and tried to openly communicate, starting with her family. The other artist, Athenkosi, from Cape Town explained how he has used what he learned from Breaking Walls to influence younger generations to use their voice.

After saying goodbye to our lovely panel we ate a wonderful home-cooked dinner from a great friend of Breaking Walls, Heather Baird Daly. We split up into groups and brainstormed different ideas on how to benefit and push the program forward. We all spoke about very exciting events that will incorporate donors and give them first-hand experience on what the program is. Overall this day was very inspiring and informative. People are not ready for what Breaking Walls is going to do next so be on the lookout!

There was no better way to spend my Saturday than with such lovely people who all believe in the Breaking Walls vision.

2020 Breaking Walls is doing spectacular things and I can’t wait!!!

Sincerely a Breaking Walls Artist,
