Each year the artists and ambassadors of Breaking Walls gather together to share their thoughts, insights, and passion for creating a world based on peace and acceptance. Under the leadership of Cape Town ambassador, Athenkosi, these are woven into our pledge to being living examples of these thoughts.

The Breaking Walls 2021 Peace & Acceptance Statement
Crafted by the artists and ambassadors from Barcelona, Brooklyn, Cape Town, Detroit, Santiago, Sarajevo, Tangier, and Warsaw.
Breaking Walls is one big happy family in which everyone is connected to the other. Artists, Ambassadors, Directors, and Artistic Mentors share good and sad moments. We respect each other’s ideas and welcome everyone, making them feel wanted. We embrace our differences and actively, deeply listen to one another. We are committed to bettering ourselves for the betterment of our future. As young activists, emerging leaders, and proud members of Breaking Walls. We pledge to strive to make a positive impact on the world no matter what we do. We pledge to listen attentively, act decisively, and respond loudly to the injustices. We pledge to work together in unison with those representing our culture. We have to be open-minded and respect other people’s cultures. We believe we should speak up for those who don’t have a voice. We have to listen like how we would like others to listen when we speak. We believe positive change is not complete if we leave others behind.
+ Discrimination whether by one Ethnicity, religion, skin color, gender, sexual orientation, or social status totally not accepted and is rejected loudly by Breaking Walls. We work to have peace, respect, truth-telling, love, and empathy – celebrating the risk we take to share our voices with others.
+ We promise to love one another no matter what occurs and we rely on ourselves to collectively grow through self-love and preserving Breaking Walls’ core values.
+ Our mission is equity, freedom, truth-telling, unity, and peace in our community and in our inner circle. We hope to develop into leaders that will break generational curses and create limitless and equitable futures for the generation of tomorrow.
+ As young artists and ambassadors, we have a strong voice and responsibility to critically analyze, respect, and improve from what generation before we dealt with issues.
+ We believe as part of self-love is the ability to forgive and see hurt as sometimes an opportunity to grow and develop.
+ We want our world to change for the better and we have ideas on how to achieve that and that is partly through open prejudice-free dialogue, inclusivity, and diversity protection and celebration.
+ Respect for other people’s cultures be open and remove all stereotypes that have been introduced to us by our society.
+ We must promote that everyone expresses their emotion and experiences and engage with the utmost respect.
In 2021 we highlight that as a generation we have a mission to fulfill, and we believe listening deeply and learning to forgive is important in fulfilling our mission. We are confident in our dreams and if we dream too big, the cure is to dream even bigger and sustain hope. In Breaking Walls, we intend to collaborate and unite towards the purpose of Connection, Creation, and Change. We are all Champions and young Creative Activists, yet we are also catalysts for change. For us to bring about meaningful change in so many ways needed we will also need to in some ways continue to transform ourselves. We reaffirm our belief we need to Break So Many Walls around ourselves and allow ourselves to be reachable. We are the future and we all believe we must start that beautiful future today.
