breaking walls

Wardah and Aashiquah

The Breaking Walls 2018 experience… I could never be able to describe how this experience has helped us. I could only say thank you for all the help us – the Breaking Walls artists from Groenvlei High School. Breaking Walls opened new possibilities to our minds and gave us the courage to live, be bold and to believe in ourselves no matter what others will think. We may be young adults but we still have loads of opinions that can and will be accepted by everyone.
We will never forget the activities and the places we’ve been to. Like the bowling lane. We truly bonded over the rolling of a ball down a lane. Striking down helpless bowling pins. We have a better understanding of each other as all we became a family and not just a group of people on a camp together.

We will also never forget the show. Our show – “Our Voices Are The Power” The show everyone saw that took sweat and tears to make come alive. The fact that we could put in our personal life stories and come out on top is what brings a smile to my face. Or the fact that we got the chance to see a different side to each other and the people around us. We will never feel inferior to anyone ever again because we realized we matter no matter what society tends to think we are enough. With our invisible scars and broken souls, we are enough.

We would also not FORGET the Breaking Walls/Rainbow Trust artists who seem to have crawled into our hearts. The memories we made with them have been amazing. We love the people we seem to become around them. Yes, our friendships started a little rocky, but we came out on top and made amazing lifetime friends.

Last but not least we remember the lovely food Miss Vivian made for us – the caring heart of Miss Dannie or the eccentric ways of our dear Miss Fran. We couldn’t thank these wonderful people enough. They’ve all crawled into our hearts and minds and made us part of the Breaking Walls Cape Town Family.

WE MISS YOU FRAN AND WE THANK YOU WITH ALL OUR HEARTS.
