2022 Yerevan Day of Community Service

Orran Children’s Center’s mission is to divert vulnerable children from the streets and engage them in academic, extracurricular, and cultural activities. During Breaking Walls 2022 Summit in Yerevan, artists, ambassadors, and Director Team members teamed up to bring a Breaking Walls workshop to the young and amazing kids from the Center. The workshop ended with both an incredible mural still present on the walls of the Center’s courtyard and presentations by groups of Breaking Walls participants and Orran young people according to the quote “Some people put up walls not to keep others out, but to see who cares enough to break them down”.

Many difficulties were faced, the language barrier being what could have been the most difficult to address. But as soon as the workshop was ongoing, thanks to the help of our Yerevan artists and to the effort of the other artists, ambassadors, and Director Team, language became a new wall that was broken down. All around kids and adults were playing, singing, and writing together and bonds were formed without any struggle.

Now in our memories, and in the walls of Orran Children’s Center remain colorful and bright images of a day in which our family once again grew in number and in which it was shown that no matter the age, the language, or any other form of identity, art is a tool ready for everybody to use in any form and to let their voices be heard as loud as they are willing to give.
