Breaking Walls 2019 Harlem @ The Dwyer Cultural Center – In Their Own Words

Our director/founder, Fran Tarr, is so pleased to introduce you to our Breaking Walls 2019 Harlem artists, their photographer, and Teaching-Artist. In just a few, short Workshop sessions they are producing provocative writing in a safe environment.
Love and respect them all!
Thank you Dwyer Center for collaborating with Breaking Walls.

“In my fourth week in this writing program, I am really enjoying the topics we’re exploring. I feel like I can open up as well as expanding my knowledge and vocabulary.” Aisa -Breaking Walls Harlem artist

“Based on my experience in these first four weeks of the Workshop, I feel it helps me and gives me time to reflect on who I am as an individual and also how I portray myself in my environment.” Oluebube -Breaking Walls Harlem artist

“Having been here for two weeks, I have had one of the best experiences because I have been really comfortable and relaxed with everyone. It has given me the opportunity to reflect and think about who I am as a person and what defines me.” Opeyemi -Breaking Walls Harlem artist

“The time I spent being here, I have enjoyed every minute of it. I feel really comfortable being here and have never felt like I shouldn’t say this or that. I feel like it’s a place to speak my mind. I have never written poetry before and I like doing it now.” Kai -Breaking Walls Harlem artist

“Being at the Breaking Walls Harlem Program, I’ve learned a lot which helps me with defining the person I am. It’s been a very fascinating environment where I have a lot of fun!” Haroune -Breaking Walls Harlem artist
